Experience of helmet usage among hearing aid users: a cross sectional study

Background: In India, persons with hearing impairment who benefit from aids can acquire a driving license. The law mandates helmet use while two-wheelers. Using aid on may be challenge, but it is paramount to understand the difficulties users face. Methods: A cross-sectional research design was used study experience of ride checklist developed and administered 15 individuals had 11 questions under three domains; 'helmet related,' 'comfort related', 'driving/ listening related. carried out in around Bangalore. data collected through interview method. Results: subjects reported comfort-related driving/listening-related domains. Many participants felt need modify suit users. They also for special program mode aids. Conclusions: Hearing-impaired two-wheeler riders face problems localization, fear falling, sweating using driving. It affects them two fronts. One, pose risk others or impaired themselves road. Second, avoiding riding two-wheelers limit their rights mobility.
